Finding the Beauty ~ Ottawa Photographers

After my first Junking expedition with my friend Christine back in April of this year, I’ve had a hankering to go back in the worst way. Not necessarily to buy anything. But to just be there. Amongst the beautiful treasures, snapping away, being totally in my element. The inspiration that places like these hold for me isn’t easily put into words. I could spend hours upon hours just imagining, just creating, just reveling in the beauty. So this past weekend I brought my Mother in Law with me and hit up the junk yards once again. The best part? I saw things in a completely different way than I did before. I’m not sure it was that any of the junk itself had changed. But as I grow as a person and as a photographer, I’m learning to see things differently. I’m learning to see beauty in new ways.

Next time I won’t wait so long to go back. I will make the time in my schedule to do it for me.

Canada Agricultural Museum ~ Ottawa Photographer

My daughter loves animals. Wait…sorry…let me correct myself. She is obsessed with animals. So this morning we decided to take advantage of our membership and visit the Canada Agricultural Museum (aka The Experimental Farm) as a family. The kids were super excited as this is one of their most favorite museums in Ottawa to go to. The best part about the farm I think is that the kids are actually able to touch and pet the animals. For them, at any farm, this is a deal breaker. They also love the idea that every time we go back we get to see most of the same animals (and know most of them by name). There were also a few new additions to the farm that had them pretty excited! There were a number of baby cows – each around a month old. As well as a litter of baby piglets which were a huge hit and were SUPER adorable! For me personally, pigs are my favorite. My only complaint was that I wasn’t able to reach in the pen and snuggle one. Trust me…you can ask my husband…I would have if I thought I could get away with it. LOL!

Whether you live in Ottawa or were planning a visit to Ottawa, I can’t say enough great things about the Canada Agricultural Museum if you have kids to entertain, or you just like animals yourself its well worth the trip. Memberships are super reasonable too and with one membership you gain access to not only this museum, but two other Ottawa museums as well! We are so fortunate to have such wonderful museums and family friendly places to visit in the Capital.

Fall Mini Sessions! ~ Ottawa Family Photography

So you’ve been thinking that you’d love a session with Danielle Lynn Photography but aren’t in need of the full meal deal right now? No problem! My Spring mini sessions at the Graffiti Wall were so successful that I decided to offer some mini’s at a different location for the Fall! Missed out on a graffiti wall Mini in Spring? Check back with me for spring 2012! If there is enough interest, I’m hoping to offer them again!

The Fall mini sessions will be held at the Arboretum this year. I’ve been there quite a number of times for sessions as well as with my own family and there is no better place that I know of in Ottawa for those gorgeous fall colours in a natural setting! What will happen is that I will meet your family at the Arboretum, we will spend 30 minutes capturing some beautiful Fall images (perfect for holiday cards and gifts!) and approximately one week following your session I will provide you with an online gallery of 10-15 proofs to choose from! These Mini Sessions are perfect for Families of 5 or less ($15 per additional family member if more than 5), sibling groups, Couples/Engagements, teens/highschool grads, or even pet portraits!

Please note: Mini Sessions will be booked on a first come, first served basis. Because of my my normal booking schedule and workload the number of time slots are also very limited. Ottawa Family Photographer ~ Courtney and Lindsey

These two gorgeous sisters were SO much fun. Right from the time we met I knew they’d be easy going – and of course…that makes my job SO easy. Courtney and Lindsey were actually scheduled to be part of my Graffiti Wall Mini Sessions that I had held earlier in the spring. Unfortunately, our schedules could never connect until this past weekend when they contacted me about finally having the opportunity to come to Ottawa. So I was happy to finally meet them. They drove 2 hours to come and see me! Oh…and where is the graffiti wall in these photos you ask? It was being re-pained. So they were more than happy to enjoy themselves an ‘Ornamental Gardens Mini Session’ instead since we were practically in the neighborhood anyway.

Speaking of Mini sessions I am toying with the idea of offering them again in the Fall if there’s enough interest. Possibly at the Graffiti wall since there was so much interest last time, but more likely at the Arboretum in time for Fall. If you think you may be interested in a mini session with photos in time for the holidays, please let me know by contacting me, or leaving me a little note on my Facebook fan page so that I can determine whether I’ll have enough people interested to go forward with it.

Ottawa Family Photographer ~ The F Family

Last Sunday evening I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful F family at Mooney’s Bay park! I am so grateful that the weather cooperated too! Even if that meant the park was buzzing with what seemed like every family in Ottawa! If you are ever looking for a place to spend a lazy (or not so lazy) Sunday afternoon, Mooney’s Bay beach is a good place to check out here in the Capital! The F family were an absolute pleasure to work with. Baby A was a little serious and apprehensive at first but she came around fairly quickly with the help of her Dora toy and a bit of silliness. She just had the tiniest little face and the bluest of eyes. I’m not gonna lie…I’d have taken her home in a heartbeat.

Thanks so much to the F family for spending the evening with me on Sunday! And as always, I’m so grateful to my clients who choose me to document this time in their lives. Their genuine smiles and enthusiastic feedback on my work is what keeps me motivated to do what I do.
