Featured: The Friendly Photographer! ~ Ottawa Photographers

I woke up this morning and was so excited to see that one of my images from this family photo session last year was chosen to be featured on The Friendly Photographer blog!

If you are a fellow Canadian photographer and don’t know about The Friendly Photographer yet, I am here to shed some light for you my friends! The super sweet and talented Emily Krbec (of Emily Krbec Photography) has created this fabulous resource to bring Canadian Photographers together offering encouragement, and the chance to be inspired by the amazing work that’s happening from fellow professionals all over Canada. First Day of School! ~ Ottawa Childrens Photographer

Its 5:50am and as usual I am awoken by the sound of two chubby little feet running down the hall to our room. My eyes are barely open when I see her mass of tangled ponytail land on the pillow next to me. “Baby girl, today is your first day of school…” and her eyes light up. She really has been looking forward to this for a long time. There were no arguments getting her dressed this morning, no troubles getting her to sit and eat her breakfast either. Today she was a big girl. And Mama was just going to have to face the fact that her baby really is.

We walked into the class room and she hung her bag up on her assigned hook. She took out her lunch bag, her indoor shoes and proceeded to put them on. Her smile was one of the biggest I had ever seen. She was so proud. And I was proud of her. As I got ready to leave the classroom she pulled me down and whispered softly “Its okay Mama, you’ll always be my Mama“. I fought back tears, just as I am fighting them back typing this. I’m not sure where she found it in her to say that to me. But that’s one of the things I admire about her. She often knows the right things to say at the right times. Somewhere inside of me I do think there is a fear that my influence as her Mama will be replaced by that of her teachers and school mates. I’ve never shared this fear with her for obvious reasons. I think she must have sensed it anyway.

My sweet baby girl. You have so many people in this world who know that there are big, BIG things in store for you. Every single day I am grateful and proud to be Mama to such a smart, funny, caring, confident and beautiful little princess. Today you get to share these wonderful qualities with the rest of the world. For that I am so happy. I can’t wait to see your heart sing.

Ottawa Commercial Photography ~ Canadian Red Cross shoot!

If you follow me on Twitter or are a fan or personal friend on Facebook, you may already know that several weeks back I was contacted about doing some photography work for the Canadian Red Cross for their upcoming national campaign. And as expected, when presented with this opportunity I was insanely excited! I wouldn’t trade my work as a professional Family and Children’s Photographer for the world, but working in a commercial capacity (for businesses both large and small) is one of the very specific directions that I’ve always wanted to take with my business. (So hint, hint…if you are a business or a company in Ottawa, Ontario or surrounding area and are looking for professional quality images for your product or boutique-type business from a very enthusiastic professional photographer, I’d love to speak with you!)

The national campaign I was approached about was for Walmart Canada. My images are set to appear (or are currently appearing) in all Canadian Walmart stores on donation cards as well as any related signage. Its possible that the images may be used in future as well. In case you can’t tell, I’m beside myself with excitement over this. As if working with one of Canada’s most respected charities isn’t awesome enough, I also happen to be the proud Mama of one of the models used in the campaign! Recognize a certain little girl?!

As always, thank you to my wonderful friends, family, clients and fans for all of your business, encouragement and friendship. Not one single day goes by that I am not grateful for you, and for the opportunities photography has provided me with. Without each and every one of you I would not have the confidence to go forward with some of the amazing opportunities that I am presented with, and continue to be presented with. 2011 continues to be my most amazing year yet. Thank you.

Sweet B ~ Ottawa Children’s Photographer

Isn’t she precious?! B’s Grandma contacted me a few weeks back about doing a session with her 20 month old Granddaughter and of course I was very excited to meet and photograph her! This is one of my favorite ages to photograph kids – still so baby-ish and easy to make giggle, and at the same time have a pretty good understanding of what’s happening around them. The first thing I noticed about B when we met last Friday was those adorable little cheeks. And if you know me, you know that I’m a total sucker for a chubby cheeked baby! B was fantastic for our session too. Mom had warned me that she might be a bit shy for the camera but that wasn’t really the case at all! She managed to turn on the smiles with the help of some funny noises, peek-a-boo games and Mommy standing behind me making silly faces!

Thank you so much to the lovely and adorable B for sharing your beautiful smile with me for this session! And thank you so much to B’s family for choosing Danielle Lynn Photography to capture these memories for you. I’m truly grateful for the wonderful families I am fortunate enough to meet because of my work as a Professional Children’s Photographer here in Ottawa!

Ottawa Family Photographers ~ The Lacroix Family

Last Thursday evening I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Lacroix Family at the Arboretum and Experimental farm here in Ottawa! We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather either. The sun had been shining all day and there was a beautiful breeze that helped keep us cool. I couldn’t have been happier since most of my sessions so far this Spring have been rained out or rescheduled due to weather!

These guys were a lot of fun and were so easy going that it really made them a pleasure to work with. Actually, in our initial emails Irene-Ann had mentioned that she wanted something nice and natural, but nothing too ordinary. So…being the creative gal that I am, I thought it would be fun to bring along one of the antique buckets I had purchased on my junking expedition earlier this Spring, fill it with some beautiful red apples and see how we could work them in as a prop with the girls! And I think it all came together very nicely! The girls ended up having a snack for our walk, and the apples did make fun, colourful little props which complimented the colours in their outfits and the natural setting perfectly!

Thank you so much for the the fun time Lacroix family! I’m confident you’ll love your new family photos for years to come. :)

If this blog post receives at least 15 unique comments (that’s 15 comments from 15 different people!), the Lacroix family will earn a free 8×10 image of their choice when they place their order!!! So please do this beautiful family a favor and leave them some love in the comment section below if you have a minute!
