Snow & Snuggles ~ Ottawa Child Photographers

We got a whole ton of snow on Monday. I really wanted to get outside and get some fun snowy images of my girl (my son insisted he go to school despite the buses being canceled!) but it just wasn’t going to happen. She wanted no part of it. Instead, she made the firm request that we go to bed, snuggle and read. And how could I argue with that? So up we went with a pile of books…and my camera of course. :)

If truth be told, I am SO ready for winter to be over. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve enjoyed it and had a blast with my kids this year. And I LOVE sessions with clients in the winter. But yeah…I’m dying for some warm summery sunshine. I’m dying to wear sandals and I’m dying to enjoy barbecued dinners in the back yard again with my family. Who’s with me?!

In the mean time, I’m trying to narrow down which of these I want to have done on a LARGE canvas (or two?) for my home. It’ll be one (or two?) of the last 3 for sure. Would love to hear your input in the comments section!!~

Ten Days ~ Ottawa Photography

Next Wednesday I will be taking a trip without my children and husband, to the African country of Ethiopia. I’ve been planning this trip for more than a year now, but it was one of those things that seemed so far away for so long that I didn’t really clue in how close the trip was until about a week ago. Ten days is how long I’ll be gone. Ten days away from my home, my doggies, away from my husband, my son and my sweet Princess. She is the one I will think most about on this trip. Her sweet, gentle, emotional self who I know will ask about me several times a day and wonder where her story-reader, peanut butter-and-jelly-maker, toe-nail polisher, bed tucker-inner is. But she is the reason I am taking this trip. The information and experiences I will gain on this journey will be so valuable to her throughout her life, and I feel so honored and grateful that I am able to give this gift to her.

After much debate, I have decided that I will be bringing my 5D Mark II camera (yes, the same giant camera you see my lugging around at our sessions!). The real reason for this trip is not specifically to take photos, however, I hope, and will definitely be seeking out lots of opportunities to take some to bring back and share here!! I will be away from the office (with limited to no internet access) from January 11th to the 24th inclusive. So if you need to reach me to book a session or for any other reason, send me an email and I will reply when I return! I’ll be looking forward to finally getting back into the swing of things for 2011!! I know it’s going to be an amazing year!!

Rainy Tuesday ~ Ottawa Children’s Photographer

Today was a yucky, rainy day in Ottawa. So yucky in fact that my girl and I didn’t even leave the house. We made some sushi, watched some movies, and in between I even managed to get some work done! So yucky weather aside – it was actually a pretty great day!

As she sat and watched her movie this afternoon, I noticed that the light from our big living room window looked so beautiful on her face. So I grabbed my camera! Lately I’ve been thinking that  haven’t been spending enough time capturing my kids in some of their spontaneous moments.  Its these little moments that I cherish most about my kids – yet they are the moments that I haven’t captured nearly enough of! I’m not the Mom (or I TRY not to be the Mom) who always lets her kids watch tons of TV. I love when she sits quietly for a movie though. Time and time again I catch myself sitting and staring at her in total amazement. I am one lucky Mama!!!

Thea and Max ~ Ottawa Children’s Photography

Have you ever seen such GORGEOUS children? Seriously. I know I do a lot of gushing over my clients. All of it well deserved because I kid you not, I do have the best! But seriously, I felt like I was shooting for a magazine! Not only were they super adorable but sweet children too. Great personalities with humor to match. I LOVE to have fun at my sessions – and I hope that shows in my work. :-)

Thea, Max and their parents are new to Ottawa, just recently having moved here form Sweden. I wish them all the best in their new life in Canada and I definitely hope that this isn’t the last time I have them in front of my camera! The entire family was an absolute joy!!!

Once again I seem to have developed a little issue with shooting SO many images that I love that I can’t possibly narrow them down for the blog any more than I already have. So its another BIG post. :-)
