Canada Agricultural Museum ~ Ottawa Photographer

My daughter loves animals. Wait…sorry…let me correct myself. She is obsessed with animals. So this morning we decided to take advantage of our membership and visit the Canada Agricultural Museum (aka The Experimental Farm) as a family. The kids were super excited as this is one of their most favorite museums in Ottawa to go to. The best part about the farm I think is that the kids are actually able to touch and pet the animals. For them, at any farm, this is a deal breaker. They also love the idea that every time we go back we get to see most of the same animals (and know most of them by name). There were also a few new additions to the farm that had them pretty excited! There were a number of baby cows – each around a month old. As well as a litter of baby piglets which were a huge hit and were SUPER adorable! For me personally, pigs are my favorite. My only complaint was that I wasn’t able to reach in the pen and snuggle one. Trust me…you can ask my husband…I would have if I thought I could get away with it. LOL!

Whether you live in Ottawa or were planning a visit to Ottawa, I can’t say enough great things about the Canada Agricultural Museum if you have kids to entertain, or you just like animals yourself its well worth the trip. Memberships are super reasonable too and with one membership you gain access to not only this museum, but two other Ottawa museums as well! We are so fortunate to have such wonderful museums and family friendly places to visit in the Capital.

Ottawa Family Photographer ~ George, Christine, Kaysha and Celeste

When Kaysha contacted me about booking this session as a surprise for her parents, I was so excited! Its not every day that I’m contacted to book a session for a family with two grown kids! I admire it so much. A family who still sees the value in these memories even after they are grown up and living their separate lives is so awesome to me. I hope that my own family will remain as close as these guys are. I think you can really see the closeness that they share in their images. :)

George, Chrisitne, Kaysha, Celeste – thank you so much for the opportunity to meet and work with your beautiful family! I’m honored that you chose me as your photographer and I know you will be thrilled with your images! ;)

Ottawa Family Photographers ~ The Lacroix Family

Last Thursday evening I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Lacroix Family at the Arboretum and Experimental farm here in Ottawa! We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather either. The sun had been shining all day and there was a beautiful breeze that helped keep us cool. I couldn’t have been happier since most of my sessions so far this Spring have been rained out or rescheduled due to weather!

These guys were a lot of fun and were so easy going that it really made them a pleasure to work with. Actually, in our initial emails Irene-Ann had mentioned that she wanted something nice and natural, but nothing too ordinary. So…being the creative gal that I am, I thought it would be fun to bring along one of the antique buckets I had purchased on my junking expedition earlier this Spring, fill it with some beautiful red apples and see how we could work them in as a prop with the girls! And I think it all came together very nicely! The girls ended up having a snack for our walk, and the apples did make fun, colourful little props which complimented the colours in their outfits and the natural setting perfectly!

Thank you so much for the the fun time Lacroix family! I’m confident you’ll love your new family photos for years to come. :)

Andre, Josee and Lorence! ~ Ottawa Family Photography

When Andre contacted me about a photo session for his family, I was SUPER excited at the possibility of a family session outdoors in the winter!! Because believe it or not, this isn’t an overly popular time of year for outdoor family photos. Granted, it can get fairly cold here in Ottawa…but the thing that I don’t think a lot of people know is how BEAUTIFUL and totally FUN a winter session can be! There are SO many possibilities in terms of ‘styles’ and locations! Andre and Josee told me that they were a very active family. They enjoy being outdoors, partaking in all kinds of winter sports as a family, so a winter session was the perfect fit for them. It was a little more challenging in the sense that the snow was knee-deep in some areas, but these guys were totally prepared and were up for anything (and so was I!)…which of course made for a great time together and fabulous results!

Thea and Max ~ Ottawa Children’s Photography

Have you ever seen such GORGEOUS children? Seriously. I know I do a lot of gushing over my clients. All of it well deserved because I kid you not, I do have the best! But seriously, I felt like I was shooting for a magazine! Not only were they super adorable but sweet children too. Great personalities with humor to match. I LOVE to have fun at my sessions – and I hope that shows in my work. :-)

Thea, Max and their parents are new to Ottawa, just recently having moved here form Sweden. I wish them all the best in their new life in Canada and I definitely hope that this isn’t the last time I have them in front of my camera! The entire family was an absolute joy!!!

Once again I seem to have developed a little issue with shooting SO many images that I love that I can’t possibly narrow them down for the blog any more than I already have. So its another BIG post. :-)
