Ottawa Family Photographer :: Just in time for Christmas!

This lovely Ottawa family contacted me a couple of weeks ago hoping to squeeze in a photo session to have images ready in time for the holidays and for Christmas cards. Thankfully, I was able to accommodate them because they really were a LOT of fun! We started off their session at their home and then headed down to the Downtown/Byward Market area for a few outdoor family photos. Their sweet little guy Luke was fantastic to hang out with as well – such a ham for the camera and such a cheeky smile. His mom Candace told me that the day before he was actually excited for my arrival to take his pictures! If that doesn’t make me feel like a million bucks, I don’t know what would! I love being an Ottawa Family Photographer!

Thank you SO much Binette-Sherwood Family for welcoming me into your home yesterday!! I thoroughly enjoyed our time together and I’m so pleased with the resulting images of your beautiful little family!! On a side note: Candace is a local real estate agent and while visiting with them we also did a few business headshots! So please keep an eye on the blog as I’ll be posting them here at a later time! :)

Ottawa Family Photographer ~ Three little ladies!

Random fact: This is my FOURTH session in a row working with a family of all daughters! The first two you can see here and here. The third I wasn’t able to blog for privacy reasons, and the fourth is this gorgeous family! Now I’m wondering…will my next family have a little boy to break the girl streak? I guess you’ll just have to check back here to find out! ;)

Christine is a friend of mine and a fellow photographer here in Ottawa (although she actually lives just outside of Gatineau). She and I meet regularly to eat Pho and drink Bubble Tea and one particular evening the conversation came up about how great it would be for me to do her family’s photos. But not just any photos! We had some very specific ideas about an evening session in the country involving candy (LOTS of colourful candy!). So I met up with Christine, her husband Eric and 3 girls last Sunday evening and we made it happen! Christine and Eric’s girls are SO cute, not to mention funny! They all seemed to have 3 very different personalities which I think you’ll be able to see pretty clearly in most of these images!

Thanks for trusting me with your family photos Christine! Its always the ultimate in flattery when a fellow photographer (and a very talented one at that!) trusts me to do this for them!

Ottawa Family Photographer ~ George, Christine, Kaysha and Celeste

When Kaysha contacted me about booking this session as a surprise for her parents, I was so excited! Its not every day that I’m contacted to book a session for a family with two grown kids! I admire it so much. A family who still sees the value in these memories even after they are grown up and living their separate lives is so awesome to me. I hope that my own family will remain as close as these guys are. I think you can really see the closeness that they share in their images. :)

George, Chrisitne, Kaysha, Celeste – thank you so much for the opportunity to meet and work with your beautiful family! I’m honored that you chose me as your photographer and I know you will be thrilled with your images! ;)

If this blog post receives at least 15 unique comments (that’s 15 comments from 15 different people!), this family will earn a free 8×10 image of their choice when they place their print order!!! So please do this awesome family a favor and leave them some love in the comment section at the bottom of this page! :)

Ottawa Family Photographers ~ The Lacroix Family

Last Thursday evening I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Lacroix Family at the Arboretum and Experimental farm here in Ottawa! We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather either. The sun had been shining all day and there was a beautiful breeze that helped keep us cool. I couldn’t have been happier since most of my sessions so far this Spring have been rained out or rescheduled due to weather!

These guys were a lot of fun and were so easy going that it really made them a pleasure to work with. Actually, in our initial emails Irene-Ann had mentioned that she wanted something nice and natural, but nothing too ordinary. So…being the creative gal that I am, I thought it would be fun to bring along one of the antique buckets I had purchased on my junking expedition earlier this Spring, fill it with some beautiful red apples and see how we could work them in as a prop with the girls! And I think it all came together very nicely! The girls ended up having a snack for our walk, and the apples did make fun, colourful little props which complimented the colours in their outfits and the natural setting perfectly!

Thank you so much for the the fun time Lacroix family! I’m confident you’ll love your new family photos for years to come. :)

If this blog post receives at least 15 unique comments (that’s 15 comments from 15 different people!), the Lacroix family will earn a free 8×10 image of their choice when they place their order!!! So please do this beautiful family a favor and leave them some love in the comment section below if you have a minute!

Winner of Ottawa’s Most Inspirational Mom! ~ Ottawa Photographer

Today is the day my friends!!! I am SO excited to announce the lucky Mom who’ll be receiving the HUGE prize package for Ottawa’s Most Inspirational Mom!!!

First and foremost I need to thank everyone who sent in nominations for Ottawa’s Most Inspirational Mom. I am not only incredibly touched and inspired by all of the stories of the women themselves who were nominated, but in addition to that, I was incredibly moved by the sheer number of wonderful friends and family who took the time to nominate a Mom who is inspirational to them. I can honestly say that I’ve come away from this experience feeling moved by each and every story I’ve read. They’ve inspired me to be a better Friend, Wife and Mother myself and for that I am grateful. On a very personal level – thank you.

Also, thank-you to the wonderful friends that I’ve made through Facebook and Twitter for helping promote Ottawa’s Most Inspirational Mom. You’ve all had a huge hand in making this a success with your kind hearts, willingness to share and Re-Tweet this to others! Such a fabulous community of some very awesome people.

Thirdly, HUGE thank-yous go out to the three other businesses who helped make this happen. Brookstreet Hotel, Chartreuse Industries and Swing Dynamite. To say I’m grateful for their generous contributions would be a huge understatement. When I connected with each of them to discuss the possibilities of doing a giveaway of this sort, each of them saw the value in what I was setting out to achieve and were very eager to become involved. That is what community is all about. So please consider checking out these amazing local businesses and all of the wonderful things they have to offer!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Alexandra!!! I’m very excited to meet you and your wonderful family!!!

Alexandra’s nomination was sent to me by a long-time friend Eva and her story touched me deeply.

Hello,

I would like to introduce you to the poster girl for “Inspirational Mother”. Her name is Alexandra Awad and she lives in Westboro. I have known this amazing woman for over 15 year and her dedication and determination never ceases to amaze me. She is involved in the community, she is generous with her time, energy and money and always has smiles to spare.

While she was 8 months pregnant with her first child, her husband had a horrible accident which severed the nerves in his spinal cord, rendering one of his arms paralyzed and the remainder of his body in chronic, excrutiating pain. She lifted this 200 lbs man in and out of the bath for 2 months before she went into labour, at which point she drove herself to the hospital, as her loving husband is no longer able to drive. When her baby was 6 months, she went with her husband to Montreal for experimental surgery in order to attempt to re-attach the nerves in his neck.

Alex supported her husband through this ordeal, with a new baby and continues to do so, with unrelenting optimism and without her contagious smile fading from her lips. In these last five years since his accident, she had another little girl and gave birth to twins in December 2010. Despite her full plate, while pregnant with the twins and working full-time to support her family, as her husband in no longer able to, she found time to help organize our high school reunion. She is always there for her family and makes time for her friends. Even with her four little girls, she found time to send ME flowers on Valentines day…

She is truly an amazing mother and gives her all to those little girls and her family. I really wish I could do more for her than this… She is truly an amazing mother and inspirational human being!

Again, THANK YOU to everyone who was kind and thoughtful enough to nominate a friend or family member for Ottawa’s Most Inspirational Mom. I hope that every single Mom has a fantastic Mother’s Day and is able to spend it with those they love.
