What I’m loving Wednesday :: Week Four

Can I blame it on my unfortunate episode with kidney stones? Cause that’s what prevented my ‘What I’m Loving Wednesday’ post from happening last week! I think it’s easier to just say that this is not a weekly feature necessarily. I want to share the coolest stuff I find. So if it happens to be weekly, yay. If not, well…just let it be known that I’m on the hunt to find more super cool things to share here. Cause I like sharing. ;)

Here are some of the things I’ve been loving lately…

1) The Walking Dead graphic novels! After becoming a big fan of the show, and knowing it was based off of a comic, I decided to order the first two books online and see how I liked them. A little known fact about me: I am a BIG fan of any books or movies with a post apocalyptic theme. So naturally, I was smitten from the moment I cracked the spine. In the span of about two weeks I ordered and read all 7 books (so far) in the series. To gave you an idea of how much reading that is, it’s the equivalent to reading 84 regular trade paperback comic books. It’s okay. You can go ahead and say it. Geek alert. ;)

2) My new hair cut and Pantene Beautiful Lengths! I felt it was time for a change so I decided to cut my hair. And since it was looooong, I decided to go for a 13 inch chop and send it in to Pantene Beautiful Lengths so that they could use it in the production of wigs for folks who’ve lost their hair due to cancer or other illnesses. So I’m LOVING the chop, and loving the cause. Makes me feel good in a whole lotta ways. ;)

My hair!!! (Please excuse all of the iPhone photos! It's become my go-to method for capturing the things I love when I'm on the run!)

3) The Children’s Museum at the Museum of Civilization here in Ottawa (well, Gatineau)! This year for the first time we decided to get a membership for our family and we are so glad we did. The kids adore this place. Cool exhibits aside, they have free art workshops which we attend nearly every time we are there and they always have something cool happening on the various holidays throughout the year! We love, love, love it there and we feel very fortunate to have it so close by. :)

4) My Chicken Fajitas with Pineapple Mango Pico de Gallo! In case you missed it, you’ll want to go back and check this blog post out. Oh-em-gee. Delicious! It’s THE food you are going to want to make for company this summer!

5) J for J charms on Etsy! I happened to stumble upon this delightful Etsy shop thanks to Pinterest! The thing that I loved was that the shop owner Carin was creating one-of-a-kind necklaces with your children’s names in them (which look like this)! Basically you have your kids hand-write their name on paper with a sharpie. You scan it, email it to her, and she will encase their little names right into your jewelry! The cost was around $43 (free shipping if you are a Facebook fan!) for a silver necklace with the custom made charms and a little jewel bead to accent it. Not to shabby if you ask me! It’s one of a kind art! :)

6) Drake’s new video for Take Care. *SWOON*. I just go ga-ga for the chemistry between these two!

What are you loving this week?

What I’m Loving Wednesday ~ Week Three

This week has been a little calmer for me. Which is great. It’s March Break and I’ve got two kids home from school who demand quite a bit of my attention. ;) I’ve been very fortunate though in that my husband has been able to take a bit of time off. So we’ve spent our down time playing Monopoly Junior, visiting Grandma and Grandpa and watching movies. A pretty great week if I do say so myself!

Here are some of my faves this week:

1) Now those who know me know that I am a VERY loyal coffee drinker. But recently a friend piqued my interest on the wonderful world and HUGE varieties of David’s Tea – and I’m hooked! So many lovely flavours to choose from, and an equally awesome assortment of teapots, mugs and accessories to drink your tea in style! I fell IN LOVE with this little teapot and mug set. I bought it it blue…but I’m SO going back for the coral!

* Just one note about David’s Tea – I was recently made aware from another friend that many of their teas contain artificial flavours. If this is something you’d prefer not to have, check their website before making your tea buying decisions!

2) Downton Abbey paper dolls!!! I’m sorry to have to mention this show two weeks in a row but this was just too darn funny not to. ;) I died with laughter at the Countess’ “expressions” below. Anyone who’s seen the show can appreciate how funny these are. You can find them to download and print here!!!

3) Fossil Bags! This week I finally got a new bag. I’ve always loved Fossil bags but have never been able to justify the cost. Well……my birthday is Friday. So I bought this lovely one and I’m just so happy with it. :)

4) ReStyle Shop’s Prints on Etsy! I bought this photography themed print a couple of months back and I absolutely love it. I was going through some things yesterday and realized that I’ve yet to frame it and find a space for it in my home! LOVE the style of this art. I want one of each!

5) The Right Brained Business Plan book (available at Chapters). This is for all of my artist friends. I know I am not alone in my hatred for numbers and all things dry and boring when it comes to business. This book is FABULOUS! Definitely worth the read if you serious about planning your business. You can even download the work sheets for free from the website!

6) ONE more from my boyfriend Michael Franti. ;) I promise, you’ll be glad you watched this video. One of his most moving songs and videos ever. :)

What are you loving this week? I’d love to hear from you in the comments section below! :)

What I’m Loving Wednesdays ~ Week two

Gosh…looking back at the past couple of weeks I see that I’ve been bad at keeping up with What I’m Loving Wednesdays! BUT, I’m back this week to share with you more of what I’ve been loving lately. :)

1) Downton Abbey. I never in a million years would have thought I’d love a British period Drama so much in all my life, but there ya have it. I’m in LOVE with this show! The the acting is great, the costumes are fantastic, It’s funny and the characters are suberb! I dare you to watch…you’ll be hooked!

2) Nayla Natural Care. Love that they are an Ottawa based company with an amazing variety of natural products for you and for your home. Also? My friend Gwen owns it. And she’s pretty great. :) My personal favorite products they carry are the Crazy Rumors lip balms and the Hugo Naturals Bath Bombs. If you aren’t following them on Facebook yet, please do! Gwen is always sharing tons of informative stuff!

3) No words necessary. Just love it because its so true. :)

4) These bracelets from BraceletCool on Etsy! So far I’ve bough…oh…6 or 7. ;) I’m addicted! They are beautiful! They go with everything! And they are totally my style. Go show ‘em some love! Or if you are as geeky as me, go buy the one in my brand colours. This made me so excited that I bought two. LOL!

5) Roller Skates!!!!!! Confession time: A few months back I decided that I wanted to play/learn to play Roller Derby. I don’t know what possessed me to do this but my fascination with this game and roller skating in general has me totally motivated to learn to skate. So I bought a pair. Just a beginners pair with some basic outdoor wheels. But the hope is that I’ll be good at this some day. I’m just waiting for the snow to melt so I can get out there and skate. So come spring, if you happen to see a woman laid out flat on the pavement with wheels in the air, please help me. It means I’ve fallen and I can’t get up. ;)

Skates purchased (and image used from) rollergirl.ca my exact skates are these.

6) Michael Franti. Need I say more?

What are you loving right now? Share with me something cool! :)

What I’m Loving Wednesdays!

What I’m Loving Wednesdays is a new weekly feature on the Danielle Lynn Photography blog! I’ve created this weekly post to share with you whatever I am loving from my week! Funny things, Quotes, Crafts, kids stuff, articles I love, cool gadgets, things I want, things that inspire me – whatever happens to be floating my boat that particular week! Will it be random? Yes. Will it be fun? DOUBLE YES. So you see that little RSS feed button up there? Click on it and subscribe to this madness. You’ll be glad you did! I promise!

First up this week is: Ryan Gosling. Have you SEEN the funny “Hey Girl…” memes being created about this delicious piece of man? No?! Well there are a few of them. Handmade Ryan Gosling being my own personal favorite. Since I consider myself someone with MANY artistic interest, Handmade Ryan Gosling is just so darn applicable to my life. ;) I have WAY more of these hilarious memes posted to my Pinterest (which you can follow here if you don’t mind my crazy, sometimes PG-13 sense of humor!)

Umm...did it just get hot in here or is it just me? ;)

Steve Buscemi Memes. No doubt created to mock the Ryan Gosling ones but just as hilarious for different reasons…

*shudder*

I came across this (below) last week and it made me smile big. I always try to smile at people randomly when I’m out with my kids or whatever. Sometimes they smile back, sometimes they don’t. But it feels good anyway. :) True story about an experience I once had: I worked in a nursing home in highschool. My job was to simply serve and clear plates for the residents. One evening I was finishing up my shift and one of the older ladies who often sat alone took me aside and said “Why are you always so nice to me?“. Taken aback I said to her “Oh Sadie…I’m nice to everyone here I guess…“. Sadie replied and said “You know, sometimes your smile is the only one I see all day. Thank you for always doing that. I always look forward to seeing you here.” She had no idea how much that meant to me. Several months after I stopped working at the nursing home I had just happened upon the obituaries in my local newspaper (and this was VERY random since I’d NEVER read the obituaries) and noticed that Sadie’s photo was in there. Gosh I felt sad. My heart sank. I wondered if she had anyone to smile at her in her last few days. I hope so. Because I want to believe that there are others who smile, simply for the feeling it gives them, and other people. Because you never truly know how much something as simple as that can make a difference.

Coffeeeeeee? Ya…I knew I wasn’t the only one who looked like this in the morning.

Always remember…its what’s on the inside that counts!
